Traffic accidents are very tough to get over. Quite often an individual is affected by the experience and sometimes they have to deal with lingering physical injuries due to the accident itself. It is important for an individual that has been in a car accident to take the proper steps to secure their safety, assess the situation and exchange information. It is all too common for people to take a chance on side of the freeway and sometimes people will lose rational thought and actually react by leaving the scene of an accident. That is illegal and unwise.
When in doubt, it is always a good idea to contact the police to secure a situation, allow individuals to exchange their information and to assess the conditions surrounding the accident. Jean Elaine Leveque was involved in a motor vehicle accident very close to her home a couple of years ago. The experience traumatized her as it was raining that day and saw many vehicles slipping and sliding their way through the intersections around town. Sometime later on her way home, she was broadsided by a vehicle trying to make a stop that had lost traction and control as it approached the intersection. She was totally stopped, but the impact of the crash had a significant physical effect on her which required physical therapy and medical treatment for several months. In her situation, she was rational enough to immediately contact the police who helped her get over to the side of the road where a tow truck could come and take her vehicle.
